Storyline

In autumn 2015 Polish citizens elected their new government. The right wing Law & Order Party (PiS) won a vast majority of seats in both houses of parliament.  As the ruling party PiS is quickly implementing a national reform programme which it dubs ‘The Good Change’. However, there’s a group of people who contest the reforms, they view the actions of the government as undemocratic and dictatorial. Those who oppose PiS form the Committee for the Defence of Democracy (KOD), which aims to challenge the democratically elected government in the name of democracy.  Through close observation of PiS and KOD activists and exploring their aims and motivations we will show this central paradox. We will find families that are divided politically – where one side supports the government while the other sides with the opposition. Thus, we will attempt to explore and explain  the deep political and ideological divide which has arisen in Polish society.
