Storyline
The Kingdom of Granada, 1340. Yusuf I and his son Muhammed V, the reigning sultans of the only remaining Muslim domain in Europe, want to show the world the intellectual power of seven centuries of Andalusian civilisation. Whilst at the peak of its intellectual development, their Kingdom is facing the decline of its military power. The Sultans set their people a challenge – to produce a perfect piece of art, in the form of a building. This will become the Alhambra Palaces, still known today as one of the most iconic structures on earth.
Ibn al Khatib, chronicler, prime minister, philosopher and doctor is at the forefront of this endeavour. A protagonist within and first-hand witness to this golden era, he reveals a forgotten chapter of European history through his own extraordinary story.
Our production team has gained exclusive access to shoot in the Alhambra palaces, a monument which attracts more than 2.7 million visitors a year. Our story will be brought to life with CGI and Digital 3D effects recreating the different phases of the palace’s construction and fictional elements will be mixed with documentary to re-tell the story of the most important Muslim monument in Southern Europe. Acclaimed actor Amr Waked (Syriana, Lucy, Marco Polo) will star in role of Ibn al Khatib.
