Storyline

The world’s second largest river by its water mass flowing to the ocean is also the lung of the country. Over the 1 700 kilometres of navigable waterway, four barges make their way with a tugboat, a captain and several hundred passengers settled on board as best they can. Life goes on there, like in a village. Under the burning sun or in the heavy rain, time passes to the beat of the river. Merchants and canoeists make trips back and forth from the shore to the boat throughout the entire journey. On this Noah’s Ark, the filmmaker shows the courage and the dignity of the merchants, sailors, boatmen and priests who are determined to live even in utter destitution.
